Practice Manager and City of Lakes Study Club Coordinator
Summer has been a valued team member at Metropolitan Periodontists, P.A. since August 2007. She began her journey with us as Dr. Wilson's dental assistant and has continually taken on various roles, showcasing her versatility and dedication. With over 20 years of experience in the dental field, Summer now serves as our Office Manager and Study Club Coordinator.
Licensed as a Dental Assistant since 1998, Summer brings extensive knowledge and a passion for helping people to our practice. She thrives on working with our team, patients, and referring offices, always eager to be of service. Her favorite part about working at Metropolitan Periodontists is the constant challenge and the opportunities for continual growth and evolution in her career. Summer takes great pride in ensuring our patients are comfortable, relaxed, and informed, and she is always up to the task, no matter the challenge.
Outside the office, Summer enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has been married for over 20 years and has two children, two dogs, and a cat. You might see her at a yoga class, walking the family dogs with her husband in the evening, cheering on her son’s baseball team, or supporting her daughter, who is a dancer. A fun fact about Summer is that she was an extra in "Mighty Ducks 2"!
Administrative Lead
Joey has been a dedicated member of the Metropolitan Periodontist team for nearly three years, having joined us in June of 2021. Joey worked his way through our office beginning as an intern and now becoming our Administrative Lead. With genuine love for helping patients, Joey has thrived in the dental field, ensuring every patient feels comfortable and well-cared for during their time in our office.
Joey is a proud alumnus of the University of St. Thomas, having recently received his Masters in Data Science. Outside of work, Joey enjoys spending time with Hayley, his wife, and their new puppy, Poppy. We're fortunate to have Joey as our Administrative Lead, and we know our patients appreciate his warm and friendly approach as much as we do.
Scheduling Coordinator
Najma is one of the first friendly faces you see when entering our office! She joined our team in March of 2023, bringing a wealth of experience from both the banking and dental industries. With an Associate's degree in Business Management, Najma spent three years in banking before transitioning to the dental field, where she has worked for the past three years, starting at a general practice before finding her home at Metropolitan Periodontist. Najma loves the energy of our practice, the strong work ethic, and the supportive team environment that motivates her to be her best. She finds great fulfillment and enjoyment in helping people and seeing their smiling faces at our door.
Outside of work, Najma loves to travel and has visited amazing places like Dubai and Egypt. Her happy place, home away from home, is Florida. She also has an adorable, fluffy Chow Chow named Leo who brings a lot of joy to her life. We love having Najma on our team, her positive energy and dedication make her a valuable part of our Metro Perio family.
New Patient Coordinator
JJ brings nearly a decade of experience in dentistry to Metropolitan Periodontists, where she has been an essential part of our team for the past six years. She began her career by earning an associate degree in dental assisting from Herzing University. JJ’s passion for helping people and educating them about their periodontal health drives her work every day. She finds great joy in seeing patients leave treatment with renewed confidence and smiles they are proud of. Education and patient care are extremely important to JJ. She is dedicated to helping patients expand their knowledge about dental health and guiding them through their periodontal care journey.
Outside of work, JJ is a proud mom of three sons and is in the process of adopting a daughter. She also has two extremely cute puppies that she loves to spend her time with. JJ enjoys spending quality time with her husband, going on travel adventures, and exploring new destinations together. In her free time, she loves eating good food, shopping, walking, working out, and absolutely loves to discuss her passion for sneakers.
Front Office
Dylan has been a vibrant part of the Metropolitan Periodontist team for the past year. A 2022 high school graduate, Dylan is currently pursuing a double major in Dance and Psychology at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Last summer, Dylan began her Internship at Metropolitan Periodontist, fulfilling a dream she's had since she was a little girl.
Growing up with her mom, Summer, working in the office, Dylan always knew she wanted to follow in her footsteps. In fact, she once asked Dr. Wilson when she could work here, and he jokingly replied, "when you're taller than your mom." Now, Dylan is not only part of the team but also making significant contributions in our marketing and in the front office.
Dylan loves spending time with the team and learning new things daily. She finds great joy in witnessing the confidence built in patients as they continue their treatment and love seeing the smiles that brighten our office. Dylan also enjoys visiting other dental offices, meeting their teams, and spreading joy—so much so that some referring offices affectionately call Dylan the “treat girl.”
Outside of work, Dylan is passionate about dance and takes every opportunity to be involved in it. She loves hanging out with friends in the sun, going for long drives, walks, and runs, and discovering new music and spots in Minnesota.
Clinical Lead
Duazong recently joined Metropolitan Periodontist and brings with her three years of experience in dentistry. A graduate of Century College, she is currently finishing her bachelor’s degree in Health Systems Studies with the aspiration of teaching dental assisting students in the future.
Duazong finds her work in dentistry incredibly rewarding. She loves working with patients and continually expands her knowledge in the field, discovering that there is always more to learn. Passionate about dental health, she enjoys educating others on the importance of maintaining healthy, strong teeth, especially since dental care is often overlooked.
Born on Christmas Day, Duazong is also an avid runner and is training for a 10k in October. Her dedication to both her profession and personal interests highlights her commitment to overall well-being and excellence. We are so excited to have you apart of our team!
Licensed Dental Hygienist
Lisa graduated from North Dakota State College of Science in Dental hygiene in 1998 but has been in the dental industry since 1988. Lisa has been with us since 2012 and has been a terrific addition to our team. Lisa is a very knowledgeable hygienist and is always seeking information to make sure she is up to date on the latest studies and technologies in dentistry. Lisa was the first hygienist in the State of Minnesota to use the Perioscopy. Her focus when a patient is in her chair is to make sure she is taking the best care of them. She knows that each patient is unique and requires personalized care to fit their needs. Lisa also helps coordinate our hygiene study club which includes about 20 other hygienists from offices around the Twin Cities.
In her free time Lisa enjoys golfing, downhill skiing, camping, and many other outdoor activities. She has been married to her husband Chris for over 30 years and has an adult son named Joshua. When she is not spending time with her family she enjoys running with her lab "Charley".
Licensed Dental Hygienist
Kal began her career in the dental field as a dental assistant before becoming a licensed dental hygienist in 2006. With a deep passion for creating positive and comfortable experiences for her patients, Kal is dedicated to educating individuals about the crucial connection between oral health and overall well-being. She takes the time to provide personalized care, ensuring each patient understands the importance of maintaining good periodontal health.
Outside of the office, Kal cherishes spending quality time with her family. She loves traveling and exploring the beauty of nature, which adds to her well-rounded approach to life and work. Kal's commitment to her patients' health and her vibrant personal interests make her an invaluable member of our dental team.
License Dental Assistant
Cara, has been a dental assistant for Metropolitan Periodontist for over a year. She has been working as a Licensed and Certified Dental assistant since 1998 after graduating from Lakeland Dental Academy. Besides the many aspects of dentistry that she loves, she strives to make her patients feel welcomed, comfortable, and well informed. In her free time, Cara loves spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys going outside, biking, gardening, or even getting cozy with a good book with her many rescue animals.
Licensed Dental Assistant
Tawn has been an essential part of Metropolitan Periodontists for the past six years, bringing nearly three decades of experience in the dental industry. She attended Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, MIT, and Lakeland Medical and Dental Academy, equipping her with a comprehensive education that has greatly benefited our practice. Tawn is passionate about helping people achieve healthy smiles and boosting their knowledge and self-esteem. She loves the science behind dentistry and understands how healing the mouth can profoundly impact the overall health and lives of our patients.
Outside of work, Tawn enjoys hosting dinner parties, watching Twins baseball, and cheering for Green Bay Packers. She is happily married and has two grown children, Ryan and Abigail.
Licensed Dental Assistant
Marilin is a dedicated dental assistant with a passion for providing exceptional care to patients. She began her journey in the dental field 3 years ago, after completing her dental assistant training at Century College, and since then, she has been committed to making a difference in people's lives. One of Marilin's greatest joys in her work is seeing the smiles on patients' faces after successful treatments. She finds fulfillment in knowing that she plays a part in restoring their ability to chew their favorite foods, something they may have struggled with for years.
Outside of work, Marilin enjoys spending quality time with her family, particularly visiting her mother in Guatemala at least once a year. She values these moments of connection and cherishes the time spent with loved ones. In addition to her role as a dental assistant, Marilin is also a certified phlebotomist, further demonstrating her dedication to healthcare and patient care. With her skills, passion, and commitment to excellence, Marilin continues to make a positive impact in the dental field and the lives of those she serves.
Licensed Dental Assistant
Veronica has been a Licensed and Certified Dental Assistant for the past seven years, bringing extensive experience and a deep passion for dental care to our team. She joined Metro Perio two years ago, and her dedication and expertise have made her an invaluable asset to our practice.
Veronica received her education from MCTC, where she developed a strong foundation in dental assisting. Her love for learning and passion for surgery keep her motivated in the dental industry. Veronica finds great joy in seeing the transformation in her patients, from the initial treatment to the final, radiant smile. She takes pride in showing patients the before-and-after results, sharing in their happiness and newfound confidence.
Outside of work, Veronica loves traveling and spending time outdoors with her two kids. She’s an avid swimmer and has great memories of swimming in the beautiful ocean of Puerto Rico—she even dreams of living there one day.
